Meet a Striver: Strive Logistics Private Fleet Team

Meet some of the faces behind Strive Logistics. Strive is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds that share a common goal - to deliver our customer's business. Let’s meet some of the faces behind Strive’s Private Fleet team. The Private Fleet team matches backhaul lanes with freight to give shippers reliable, safe, and low cost capacity.

Jimmy

Jimmy is the Private Fleet Manager for the Private Fleet Procurement team. He started at Strive in 2011 and graduated from the University of Iowa. Jimmy started in the Chicago office and moved to the Austin office in 2015. On the weekends, Jimmy enjoys racing cars and hopes to one day race at Circuit of the Americas.

What brought you to Strive?
I was friends with another Striver’s sister and she referred me when Strive was hiring. Prior to Strive, I was working in the hospitality industry and was an intern at an internet marketing company.

What kinds of qualities does someone need to have to be a Strive employee?
The two qualities that stand out to me are ambition and a communicable personality. Strive promotes a fast paced environment and an entrepreneurial spirit. Someone that does not constantly look to improve their results or lacks the confidence to consistently reach out to their contacts and prospects will not do well.

What’s your favorite thing about working for Strive?
Strive is a big company that feels like a small company. When I’m at work, I’m not just a cog in the machine – I can see the results of my accomplishments. I can see firsthand how my growth matches the growth of Strive and it’s very exciting! In just four years, we’ve made so many improvements to stay ahead of the game.

How do you make your customers’ lives easier?
Communication. In supply chain management, there are a million things that can happen that are out of my control. However, as long as I keep my customers informed of the situation, unforeseeable events can be prevented from escalating further.


Jared

Jared is the Private Fleet Coordinator for the Private Fleet Procurement team. He joined Strive in 2012 and migrated to Austin from Arizona. Outside of the office, Jared likes checking out breweries with his fiancé and cheering on the Houston Texans with his dog, Austin Pawers.

Jared Huff

What brought you to Strive?
I was looking for a fast-growing company in the logistics industry that could provide opportunities for growth. I wanted to work somewhere that had a fun, laid back culture. My father was in logistics, so I was exposed to it as a kid. When I went to college at Arizona State, I did a 7 month co-op in demand planning, so I had logistics experience when I graduated. I also wanted to be in sales, so finding a sales position in a logistics company allowed me to play to my strengths.

What kinds of qualities does someone need to have to be a Strive employee?
At Strive, you really need to be a team player. There are so many variables in the logistics industry, so employees also need to want to learn all aspects of the business and be willing to help whenever possible.

What’s your favorite thing about working for Strive?
I enjoy the work hard, play hard culture Strive has developed through the years.

How do you make your customers’ lives easier?
I provide dedicated backhaul solutions with superior service. I can usually help customers lower their freight spend. Customers can spend their time and energy focusing on their core business because they know their freight is in good hands.
